Sport Clips Free Veterans Day HaircutParticipating Sport Clips Locations Offer a Free Veterans Day Haircut (GetStencil)

This Veterans Day, many restaurants and retailers will open their online and in-person locations to veterans for free or discounted services.

We are working on validating Veterans Day discounts for 2024. Below is last year’s Veterans Day discount.

During the annual Sport Clips Help A Hero campaign, which runs from October 11 through Veterans Day, November 11, 2023, participating* Sport Clips locations will offer free or discounted haircuts for servicemembers and veterans.

Sport Clips has been a cornerstone of affordable haircuts since the early 1990s when founder Gorgon Logan, an Air Force veteran, recognized the need for inexpensive and quick haircuts for men and boys.

This untapped market proved to be incredibly lucrative. Logan “wanted to create a place where guys could take care of one of life’s necessities – a haircut.” So that’s precisely what he set out to create. Since then, the Sport Clips mission has changed to provide a “championship haircut experience in an exciting sports-themed environment.”

At its core is the idea that teamwork makes everything possible, a throwback to Logan’s time in the Air Force.

Like Great Clips, Sport Clips locations will offer discounted or free haircuts to active duty military members on Veterans Day. To receive a free haircut, military members will need to show active and valid identification. On Veterans Day, participating locations will also donate one dollar to veteran service organizations.

*Note: Please verify participation. Due to the pandemic, not all stores may be participating.

Sport Clips Philanthropy

Military support doesn’t stop with just free haircuts. As a veteran of the military, Gordon has also made it part of Sport Clips’ mission to give back to the military community. Since 2009, Sport Clips across the country have worked together to raise nearly $8 million for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Foundation (VFW).

Help a Hero

Their annual Help a Hero fundraiser has provided nearly 1,750 active duty personnel and veterans with scholarships for advanced education, totaling over $8 million. This campaign has also helped raise more than $3 million to help deployed and wounded servicemembers call home through the VFW’s Operation Uplink program. Since 2013, the Help a Hero Scholarship Program has provided educational funding to personnel in all branches of the military who earn degrees across an array of subjects, including accounting, health care, and engineering. During last year’s campaign, Sport Clips raised $1.35 million.

Ageless Aviation Dream Foundation

Sport Clips also funds the Ageless Aviation Dream Foundation that honors seniors and military veterans by providing once in a lifetime dream flights. Military veterans, most of whom primarily served during WWII, are given a chance to ride in a Boeing Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train military aviators at the start of the Second World War.

Aleethia Foundation

Offing support through therapeutic recreation, small financial grants, and home improvements, the Aleethia Foundation provides injured servicemembers with mobility and rehab needs. Sport Clips also sponsors Friday Night Dinners, that help provide social opportunities for wounded servicemembers.

Honor Flight Network

Sport Clips also provides financial support and assistance to the Honor Flight Network, which transports servicemembers to Washington D.C., where they’re able to pay their respects at national war memorials. The Veterans Airlift Command provides free air transportation for veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan through volunteer efforts of aircraft owners and pilots.

Sport Clips Franchise Opportunities

In addition to these VSO efforts, Sport Clips also offers a financial incentive for veterans who want to open their own franchise. Sport Clips understands that the transition from veteran to civilian can be difficult, so the company offers a generous discount on startup costs for veterans interested in exploring business ownership. This program is offered in partnership with VetFran. VetFran was created in 1991 after the Gulf War as a way to encourage transitioning veterans to open their own businesses.

Sport Clips is the only national hair care franchise with locations in all 50 states, making it easy for servicemembers to find a location near them.
